Emma was the daughter of Alice and George T Bennett of Newcastle.
In 1915, Emma married Thomas Simpson Balks, a Labourer of Newcastle at New Lambton in NSW.
By 1935 Emma and Thomas had moved to New Zealand settling in Wellington firstly at the Hutt and later Petone. Thomas was employed as a Driver and next as a Watersider. Thomas passed away in 1941 and Emma remarried between 1941 and 1946 to widower, George Edward William Clemens, Fisherman of Petone.
George, now retired, and Emma later moved to Picton, living for a time at Cherry Bay and next moved north to Taranaki. After George's death Emma moved to Wanganui with George's son and his wife Cleater and by the 1970's they were all living in Hamilton.
Emma died in 1974 aged 80 and is buried at Aramoho Cemetery, Wanganui. RC B ROW 2 PLOT 219.
