Biography
Karen was born to the farm family of Anker and Dagny Berg; she grew up as part of a large extended family including siblings – Warren, Lorraine, Doug and Vivian.
She became a nurse and graduated from the Calgary General Hospital. She later earned her Bachelor of Nursing from Athabasca University and worked in a variety of settings as a nurse including the doctor’s clinic, acute care and long term care.
Karen was also a community volunteer and, among other things, served as chair of Meals on Wheels and on the Claresholm and District Health Foundation.
