Thomas de Berkeley was born at Coberley in Gloucestershire on the 10th of October 1351, son and heir of Thomas Berkeley and his wife, Joan Archer. [1]
His first wife, Julian,[2] is otherwise unknown. They were married before the 13th of October 1364.[2]
His second wife was Margaret de Chaundos, daughter of Sir Thomas de Chaundos and his wife, Lucy. They were married by 1375. Margaret bore him 2 daughters and died on the 4th of April 1406.[3]
Thomas himself had not outlived Margaret. He died on the 12th of April 1405.[4] His heirs were his daughters Margaret and Alice.[4]
The Visitation of Gloucestershire has introduced errors into the family tree. [5]
The Margaretta, mother of Isabella Ireland, wife of Sir John Annesely, was the sister of John de Chandos who died in 1369.
The wife of Thomas de Berkeley was named Margaret as evidenced by her IPM [3] and followed by History of Parliament.[1]
