Douglas was the son of William R. V. Berryman and Ethel Mary Stevens of Christchurch, New Zealand. ^[1]

As of 1949 he was a student in Dunedin (presumably, studying medicine at Otago University?)

In 1952 he became engaged to Ann Russell, daughter of Mr & Mrs T. T. Russell, Epsom, Auckland. However, this marriage seems to have not gone ahead. ^[2]

He was at Eketahuna in 1954, then back in Christchurch by 1957, at 20 Kirkwood Avenue. By 1967 he had moved to Batman, Melbourne, Australia. His mother was with him at that time, although she later returned to New Zealand. He was an orthopaedic surgeon.

He passed away 30 November 1999 at Cabrini Hospital, Melbourne. ^{[3] [4]}

Research Notes

"Ashburton" is stated as residence on the probate header; and according to Ancestry Profile he married a woman Lillian Rose Bennett who later remarried and lived in Ashburton, NZ. Not sure what the story is there. The Victoria will is not digitized; he does not appear in NZ electoral rolls after 1960 (despite being in a 1965 sports club notice in Press), and neither he nor any children of his are mentioned in Lillian Rose Cockburn's will. There is also a NZ probate file dated 2001, not digitized.

According to same tree, he and Lillian had a daughter, still living, who married Ross Wallace Hart (abt.1948-2000). Their child is in AncestryDNA matches. McNabb-412 11:40, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
