Item Details. LOCAL & GENERAL. The remains of Mrs Pope, wife of Mr John Pope, of Wairio, were interred in the Riverton cemetery on Sunday, the cortege being a large one. Mrs Pope's father resides in North Palmerston street. Three months ago the deceased underwent a serious operation, but, this had only a temporary effect. Her death took place on Thursday at Wairio. She was the second eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs William Blackmore, early settlers of South Riverton, and was highly esteemed by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. The relatives have widespread sympathy in their bereavement[10].
