Emily was born in 1855[1] in Yokefleet, Yorkshire, England, where she lived with her parents, Robert Blanshard and Mary Ann Richardson, in 1861.[2] In 1871 Emily lived with her aunt, Elizabeth Blanshard, in Yokefleet.[3]
In 1876 Emily married Morris Featherstone in Laxton, Yorkshire.[4][5] In 1881 the family lived in Eastrington, Yorkshire. Morris farmed 140 acres, employing two men and one domestic servant.[6]
Emily died in 1884 at the age of 30.[7]
