Biography

Charlotte Anna Bodman (married name Watson) was born on 4 March 1866 in Woranga, Victoria, Australia, daughter of Mary Ann (Burnett) Bodman and Henry Bodman.^[1]

She married Joseph George Watson on 22 August 1892 in Trenton Valley, South Gippsland, Victoria.^[2][3] Their children were:

• Lalla Mary Cobham Watson (1893–1970)
• Lorna Dorothy Watson (1895?–1977)

Charlotte died on 10 May 1946 at 24 Bruce street, Toorak, Victoria, aged 80 years.^[4][5][6]

   Mrs Charlotte A. Watson, who died on May 10 at her home, Bruce st, Toorak, was aged 80 years. She was a daughter of Mr Henry Bodman, one of the earliest pioneer settlers in the Alberton district of South Gippsland, who followed Angus MacMillan down the Tambo Valley from the Monaro district in NSW, in 1843, and was the first occupier of Trenton Valley and Tarravale cattle stations, near Port Albert. Mr Bodman died in 1872, and his widow, the late Mrs Mary Bodman, for many years continued the breeding of horses for the Indian markets and fattening of cattle, which, on the Melbourne markets, were well known under the "HB" brand. Mrs Watson married Mr J. G. Watson in 1892, and for some years resided in London, where her husband was London manager for the Bank of Victoria. She has left two daughters, Mrs Cecil Alley, of St George's rd, Toorak, and Miss Dorothy Watson, of Bruce st, Toorak.
