Caroline Hepzibah (Old Testament name; Hebrew meaning "my delight is in her") was born in 1803. She was the daughter of Samuel Bonnin and Ann Glover. She was baptised on 6 November 1803 at St Luke’s, Old Street, London, England.
Her father, Samuel Bonnin, aged 40, joined Sephton's Party of 1820 Settlers. She was only 17 when they landed in Algoa Bay. The party were settled in what became the lovely village of Salem
She was 22 years old when she married 23-year-old Richard Bland on 24 November 1825 in Grahamstown, Cape Colony:[1]
There were four children born of this marriage:
Richard was killed in 1835 in one of the Frontier Wars; Caroline then married widower Charles Grubb on 28 May 1841 in Salem, Cape Colony.[2]

Caroline passed away at the age of 68 at her daughter's home in Queenstown on 22 November 1871.[3][4]
