OBITUARIES = Mr. Robert Bonython - 24 Nov 1906
At Summertown last week Mr. Robert Bonython, who had been ill for some
time, passed away. He was born in Cornwall in 1835. He was an old colonist,
having arrived in South. Australia with his parents in 1840. In the early days he went to the Victorian diggings, where he was fairly successful. On his return he became a farmer on the Bremer Plains and at Mount Barker.
Afterwards he returned to the Mount Lofty district, where he was for many years a market gardener. He retired some years ago, two of his sons taking his garden. Mr. Bonython was highly respected. In addition to a widow
(daughter of the late Mr. R. Mitchell, of Kanmantoo), he has left five sons-Mr. G. Bonython. of Kensington; and Messrs. Richard. Robert, John, and Alexander Bonython of Summertown; and three daughters -Mrs. A. Badenoch, of bridgewater; Mrs. T, Johnson, of Glen Osmond; and Mrs. W. J. Copeland, of Norwood.[7]
