Biography

Frances Ethel Boon, seventh child and fifth daughter of John Samuel Boon and his wife Elizabeth Lowers was born at Wellington, New Zealand on 18th November 1882.

Although several other researchers record the same date of birth for her, their stated birthplace of Stepney in London, England is unable to be verified … see, eg, 'Meadows', 'Aussie' and 'mcnair' Family Trees on Ancestry.com [rechecked on 28th May 2020].

On 19th October 1908 Frances married Joseph James Murphy Snr in New Zealand.

Kids …

Throughout her life it would seem that this lady's correct name order caused her … and/ or her family members … considerable confusion. At her birth and when she married, her name was recorded as Frances Ethel; on the birth registrations of her seven children her name order alternated between Frances Ethel and Ethel Frances … more precisely, the mother of children 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 is recorded as Frances Ethel; the mother of children 2, 3, and 6 is recorded as Ethel Frances … as was the registration of her death!

She died on 11th August 1965 ^[1] and was cremated at the Karori Crematorium in Wellington three days later. ^[2]
