Biography

-Son of Thomas & Retta Boone. He grew up in Grand Rapids. --Occupation: Draftsman at Baldwin Mfg. Co. in Grand Rapids in 1917. In 1920, he was Chief Engineer of a tractor company in St. Louis, MI. By 1929 Alford had moved his family to Columbia, SC where he was a Building contractor through 1935. By 1940 he & his family were in Tampa, FL. They lived in Florida at least 5 years and he became involved in the trucking industry. He eventually came to Charlotte and became Chairman of the Board of Boone Trucking Company --Alford married #1 Lillian -----. They had 2 children: James Frederick and Mildred Maria Boone. Apparently Alford's wife died young. --He married #2 Ethel Tolhurst about 1926. They had one son, Alford Glenn Boone Jr. --Cause of death: Parkinson's disease.
