Charles John was born in 1847 at Twickenham. He was the son of Charles Boreham and Phoebe Evans. ^[1]

In 1870 at St. Mary the Virgin, he married Jessie Phebey. ^[2]

They emigrated to New Zealand departing 19 March 1875 and arriving 8 July 1875. aboard the Forfarshire. The log recorded Charles J. (27), Jessie (29), Phoebe R (4), Henry (2), and Alice M (infant). Charles was a painter. ^[3]

His parents would follow in 1876.

He passed away 23 May 1932 age 85 or 86 at Te Kopuru Hospital. ^{[4] [5]} He is buried at St. Mark's, Paparoa. ^[6]
