Edna Fern Winchester, 88, of Newburgh, died Monday, January 22, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Fern was born September 15, 1918, in Mount Vernon, Indiana, to Edward Bottomley and Nellie Allyn. She was the widow of Earnie Carl Winchester, who died in 2004. They had been married for 72 years. Fern had been a homemaker all her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Nettie Worthington and Lydia Meredith; one grandson, Herbert Winchester; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Hape.
Fern is survived by her five sons, Edward L. Winchester, Sr. and wife, Dolly of Newburgh; Donald E. Winchester and wife, Pat of Newburgh; Robert D. Winchester of Chandler; Kenneth D. Winchester and wife, Sherry of Chandler; and Steven W. Winchester and wife, Patricia of Newburgh; a half-brother, Ralph Schmidt of California; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Reverend Rick Riley, with entombment at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Alexander Newburgh Chapel.
