Biography

Mary Ann BOWER was born on 4 August 1795 in Buxton, Derbyshire, England.(*1,2) She was christened on 11 October 1795 in Buxton.(*3) She married Anthony WARRILOW on 21 May 1820 in St. Bartholomew's Parish Church, Norton in the Moors, Staffordshire, England.(*4) They were married by Daniel Turner. Mary signed her name, Anthony made is mark with a cross. Mary appeared in the census in 1841 in Wood Street, Longton, Staffordshire, England.(*5) In 1851 she was a dressmaker.(*1) She appeared in the census in 1851 in Wood Street.(*1) She appeared in the census in 1861 in 10 Ashwood, Longton, Staffordshire, England.(*6)

Mary's maiden name and parents were confirmed when her daughter Emma was christened in 1826. Mary was the daughter of George Bowers, a shoemaker from Buxton and his wife Sarah. George later became a farmer. The family surname is recorded as Bower and Bowers in different records.
