Biography

George was born about 1822 in Pennsylvania [1].

He married Lydia Unknown (1821-1864) sometime before 1850, as they are married living in Hebron, Potter, PA at the time of the 1850 Census [2]. By 1860 the couple had relocated to Oswayo, Potter, PA [3]. Together they had one child, Mary Jane (Bradley) Ames (1863-1916). She was born in 1863, just shortly before the beginning of the Civil War.

George enlisted during the Civil War on February 29th, 1864 in Oswayo, Potter, PA [4]. He served in Company G of the 46th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry.

While George was at war, his wife Lydia passed away. It is believed that their daughter lived with a Slocum family after the passing of her mother, as her surname is commonly found as "Jennie Slocum".

When he returned, he married Alice D Simmons (abt.1850-). I haven't been able to find their marriage record, but census records and the death certificate of their son confirm their relationship.

He passed away in 1886.
