On Tuesday last Mrs Mary Griffin, an old resident of this district, died at her residence, York-street, at the age of 72, after a protracted illness. The deceased, who was generally respected, was the daughter of the late Mr Matthew Smith, and was a native of the Paterson district. Deceased leaves a son and six daughters, all grown up, and of these Mr Edward Griffin, Mrs John Trunley, Mrs Percy Chapman, and H. Sheehan reside in Singleton. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon. ^[1]
