Thomas Joseph Brennan was born in 1868 in Bacup, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of Patrick Brennan and Mary Walsh.^[1]

In the 1871 census Thomas (age 3) was living with his parents and 3 siblings in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. His father was a yeast dealer.^[2]

In the 1881 census Thomas (age 13) was living with his widowed mother and 3 siblings in Bankside Lane, Newchurch With Bacup, Lancashire, England. His mother was working as a cotton operative in a mill. He attended school.^[3]

He immigrated to the United States. During the 1900 census Thomas (age 30) was the single and living with his mother Mary Brennan and two brothers in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.^[4]

Thomas married Clara Mae Mcmurray in 1901 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.^[5]
