Henry was born about 1826, probably in Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of Henry Brennan, a mariner.
In 1850 he married Mary Ellen Duff in 1st Islandmagee Presbyterian Church. He was a mariner living in Balloo, Islandmagee and she was living in Ballyharry, Islandmagee. The witnesses were John Donaldson and James McGowan.[1]
In 1883 Henry was master of a schooner, Beagle, the property of Mr Thomas Moore of Belfast, which was washed ashore near Killard Point, Ballyhornan, County Down, Ireland during a gale while on a journey between Maryport, Cumberland, England and Londonderry, Ireland with a cargo of coal. The ship became a total wreck and the coal was washed up on the rocks. Unfortunately Henry Brennan was lost, although the crew of four were rescued, albeit very fatigued.[2]
