According to the above pedigree chart,[1] Elizabeth Brightman[2] was the wife of John Alton of Nottingham, physician who died in 1629. They had two children:
- Elena m. Thomas Bray and
- George d. 1620 m Maria Hodgson.
George had three children
- Elizabeth (aet 62 in 1675 (b. c. 1613); m. John Gregory, son of William, grandson of Alicia and Johannes Gregory of Broughton Sulney. John died 1654 in Nottingham.
- Maria m. Joh. Major
- Anna m. Henry Roos of Sneynton
Based on their granddaughter's birth about 1613, their sons birth would be estimated about 1583 and John's birth about 1553.

John and Elizabeth did not have a daughter Alice, who married John Gregory, father of the immigrant Henry Gregory. they were instead contemporaries of John.
