Ruth, daughter of Henry T. Broderick, was born in Hawaii in 1897 and came to Canada in 1914. In 1916, she was naturalized, living with her father and siblings on a homestead in an unorganised part of Alberta that was known as Spirit River. [1]
In 1916, Ruth and Jim Fahey, a general merchant in Spirit River Settlement were married. [2][3] They stayed in Spirit River and moved to Jasper some time in the '20s." [4] Their family as shown in the 1921 census were farming in section 35, township 78, range 6, West of the 6th meridian, at Spirit River. Ruth's brother Cyril and sister Mary lived with them. [5]
In 1974, Jim and Ruth were voters in Lacombe, Alberta and Jim had retired. [6] Jim lived until 1977. He was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe, Alberta. [7] Ruth died in 1994 (aged 96–97) and was buried in Fairview Cemetery as well, sharing Jim's marker. [8]
