Biography

NOTE: There were NINE different Alice Brookes born in the Tong/Birstall area of Yorkshire in just an 8 year period 1612-1620. Obviously the Brookes were a prominent family from there and Alice was a popular name for a girl! Selecting the right one for John Hargrave's wife is impossible.

I picked the one closest to him in age; she was baptized a week before him in Birstall. If anybody researching this family has information supported by sources that suggests one of the other 8 born in that era was John's wife, I'm certainly open to revising this branch going back. I will proceed on this line for now.

Her father was Robert Brooke and her mother was Margaret Beverley. They had married in Birstall July 1609. Alis/Alice married John Hargrave in Tong May 1638 and they had a daughter Rosamon Hargrave born the following year.
