Biography

She is the daughter of HonorableThomas Brooke Esq (1632-1676) of "Brookefield"[1] (p.86) and Anne (Unknown) Brooke (abt.1660-). [2]

Marriage

Sarah Brooke married Philip Lee, of “Blenheim. They had a son Richard Lee of “Blenheim, and Thomas Lee, father of Governor Thomas Sim Lee. Thomas Lee, in turn, had a son John Lee, who had a son John Lee Carroll, of “Doughoregan Manor” , who later became governor of Maryland.[3]

Francis, second son of Philip Lee and Sarah Brooke,was born ? and died in 1749 in Cecil county, Maryland. He had been clerk of that county since 1746. He married Elizabeth Hollyday.[4]

Philip Lee and Sarah Brooke's third son was Philip Lee, born in ? and died in the summer of 1739. He lived in Charles county, Maryland. His will, dated 17th April, probated July 3, 1739: ..dearly beloved Wife Bridgett Lee, son Philip Lee,..three daughters, Sarah, Elizabeth and Lettice Lee.[1]

Thomas Lee fourth son of Phlip Lee and Sarah Brooke was born… and died in August or September of 1749. Of his life there is no record. He married Christiana Sim, daughter of Dr. Patrick Simm of Prince George’s county, Maryland and Mary, who was daughter of Honorable Thomas Brooke of “Brookefield".[1](p.160).

Arthur, fifth son of Philip Lee and Sarah Brooke, was born …; died probably in 1760; on the 26th of December, 1760, there was a new election for a delegate from Charles county, Maryland in room of Capt Arthur Lee deceased (Maryland Archives). Arthur Lee married Charity Hanson, who was daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Hanson of “Greenhill,” Charles county, Maryland. The will of Arthur Lee has not been found, so there is no record of any children; but his brother Thomas Lee, left the reversion of some land to his “nephew Arthur Lee, son of Arthur Lee.”[1]

Death

Sarah, the daughter Hon Thomas Brooke, Esq (1632-1676) of Brookefield was married to Philip Lee, who later married Barbara Addison. She died in November between 16th and 28th, 1724. By her will dated 16th and probated 28th of Nov 1724, she left her young son Arthur Lee and his heirs forever all that tract or parcel of land which my Honored father Thomas Brooke Esq gave me.. lying at Rock Creek.[1](p.96)
