Biography

David Brooks was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England.

David was born in 1882. He was the son of David Brooks and Mary Martindale, ^[1] and was Christened at Bolton, All Souls on 31 March 1882. The family were living at 24 Everton Street at this time and his father worked as a Piecer. (Cotton Mill) ^[2]

1891 Census: 2 McHale's Court, Great Bolton. David is 9 years old. Mother Mary 34 is working as a Charwoman. Siblings Joseph 13 works as a Casemaker, Elizabeth 11, Sarah 7 and Isaac 5 are all at school. Father David is not in the household, but is in Aylesbury Prison on a charge of Burglary for which he recieved a sentence of 5 years in 1888. ^[3]
1901 Census: 87 Vernon Street, Bolton. David 19 is working as a Piecer. His father David 45, is back home and is now running a Chip Potato Business and hopefully back on the straight and narrow and mother Mary is 43. His younger brother Isaac 15 is still at home and working in the Cotton Mill. ^[4]

Marriage: In 1907 David married Sarah Ann Heyworth in Bolton. ^[5]

1911 Census: 94 Crosten Street, Bolton. David is 29 and Sarah 28. They are running a Fish and Potato Business. Sarah's father John Heyworth 61, a retired widower is also living with them. They have recorded they have no children ^[6]
1939 Register: 231 Columbia Road, Bournmouth. David and Sarah have moved to Bournemouth, but they still have a Fish and Chip Business. ^[7]

He passed away in Bournemouth about 1946, age 64. ^[8]
