John Brough was born in Scotland.

John was born on the 22 December 1862, Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland. His parents are David Brough and Margaret Crow. ^[1]

John Brough married Agnes McFarlane on the 12 October 1881 at St Mary Magdalen’s Episcopal Church, Dundee. John is an 18-year-old Lithographic Printer Apprentice living at 9 Tay Street Lane, Dundee. Agnes was a 17 year old living at 5 Simple Lane, Dundee. They were married by Edward Sugden, officiating Priest. Their witnesses are Thomas Rhind and Catherine Brough.

John died 24 July 1942 at Maryfield Hospital, Dundee. In his obituary he is described as being late of Dundee Advertiser Office and Montreal. The funeral was held on the 27 July 1942 at Dundee Crematorium at 2.15pm. ^[2]
