Biography

Thomas was born in Bream, Gloucestershire to Thomas Brown and Amy (Morse) Bailey. His father Thomas was a Collier. [1]

His father Thomas passed away sometime between 1821 and 1826 - when his mother Amey married again. In 1829 he inherited a house, as did his sister Elizabeth, when his grandfather died. [2]

On 1 Feb 1845 he married his first cousin, Mary Ann Morse. Her father Samuel and his mother Amy were siblings. William Kear and Phebe Morse were witnesses. Thomas was a Tailor. [3]

In 1847 baby Amy Gertrude was born and she died aged 8 months and was buried on April 1st 1848. [4] [5] Mary Ann died in 1848, aged 22 and was buried 27 days after baby Amy. In the following year Thomas married again, to Lois Brain. [6]

In 1851 [7], 1861 [8] Thomas and Lois were living in Yorkley. No children were living there. Thomas was a Tailor. In 1853 he was appointed one of the executors in the will of Philip Morse although he inherited nothing. [9]

In 1861 they had a son, Thomas, who died at less than a year old. In 1867 they had a daughter, Minnie Ada. [10] In 1871 Thomas, Lois and Minnie were living in Yorkley. Lois is mistranscribed as Louisa [11]

Minnie died aged just 6 and was buried on December 9th 1873 at Yorkley. [12]

Thomas died aged 59 and was buried on 14 September 1880 at Viney Hill. He had been living in Yorkley. [13]
