Biography
Born in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland, in 1827, J. Gordon was the youngest son of Peter Brown and Marianne Mackenzie and brother of Hon. George Brown. He was managing editor of the Globe newspaper for many years. After his brother's death, he was editor of the Globe until 1882.[1] He was then appointed registrar of the Surrogate Court.
He married Sarah Anne Browne (1833-1907)[2] and they had a daughter and two sons.[3]
He died in 1896[4] and was buried at the Necropolis Cemetery, Toronto.[5]
