Birth

Vivian Maurine Brown, known as Maurine, was born on 2 August 1932 in Beaumont, Jefferson, Texas, United States to James Ellis Brown (1909-2000) and Vivian Maurine Parsley (1914- 2010).

2. Debra Pauline Brown born 11 January 1953 in Jefferson County, Texas. She married Dr. Jesus G. Garcia, M.D. (born about 1955) on 17 July 1982 in Galveston, Texas.

Education

Maurine graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas and then went on to Stephens College and Finishing School in Missouri. She completed her degree at Lamar Tech in Beaumont. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Southern Belles Sorority. That's where she met her future husband, Doug. He was president of his Lamar Tech senior class and a star football player.

Marriage and Family

She married Cdr. Claude Douglas Clower, known as Doug, (1930-2010) in about 1952.

1. Virginia Maurine Clower born 22 August 1954 in Beaumont, Jefferson, Texas, United States. She married Edward Wayne Dyer (1949-1986) on 27 February 1975 in Clark County, Nevada. They divorced on 3 March 1983 in Jefferson County, Texas. Virginia died on 23 November 2009 in Port Arthur, Jefferson, Texas, United States.

Navy Wife

As the wife of a United States Naval Aviator and war hero, she followed around the country all during his active career.

Later Years

When Doug retired from the United States Navy in 1975, he then went to work in the oil and gas engineering construction business and the family lived in Houston, Texas before they eventually retired to their Clower Farm in Bleiblerville, Texas. Sweetheart worked with the West End Elementary School in Industry, Texas as a mentor and was an active member of the Welcome Lutheran Church near Brenham, Texas as was her husband. She took care of him at home during his final years of ill health.

Death and Burial

Maurine died on 18 December 2012 in Bleiblerville, Austin, Texas, United States at the age of 80. She was buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Beaumont, Jefferson, Texas. Headstone photo is available. Find A Grave: Memorial #78072393
