Maurice was born in 1832. He was the son of Wheeler Brown and Lucy Merchant. He married 1855 Celinda Underwood.
He was a carpenter and contractor; built many fine residences in Mexico, N.Y. and in Utica, N. Y., in later years; built the Oswego County Asylum. For two or three years after his marriage he had charge of the Insane Asylum near Mexico.
He passed away in 1889.
