Sarah Buck was born about Dec. 1781. Her place of birth is likely Haverhill, Massachusetts where several of the Buck family originated who came to this part of Maine particularly Bucksport. Sarah's approximate birth date is calculated from her age of 75 years and 11 months at the time of her death, which occurred on Nov. 17, 1856. Her parentage is pending additional research.
What is known is that James Miller and Sarah Buck filed their intention to marry on 3 Apr 1801 at Hampden, Hancock (now Penobscot) County, Province (now State) of Maine.
They resided, raised their family, and lived out their lives in Hampden. Their children are identified in James Will executed on March 2, 1852 including married names of most of their daughters..

In his Will, James named his son in law, Joseph Maddock, executor of his estate. His wife Sarah and son William were his heirs, the other children having received their shares during his life.
James died on August 11, 1856, and about 3 months later Sarah passed away. They are both buried at the Lakeview Cemetery in Hampden.
