Mary Catherine née Burke Mary married William Kennedy in 1855 in Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland. They ultimately had 10 children:

In 1857 the young family of husband William Kennedy, son Martin and Mother-in-Law Mary nee Harney Kennedy migrated to New South Wales. Traveling as assisted immigrants the family arrived in Port Jackson, Sydney on 1 Apr 1857 on the ship "Fitz James".
