Please note the normal usage of the surname from this point forward, for this line, was BURNETT. This is likely due to the adoption of the surname of the mother, in whose hands the lands were held, until Alexander inherited.
Alexander Burnett was the eldest son of James Burnett, of Craigmyle, and his wife Elizabeth Burnett, daughter and heir of Thomas Burnet of Craigmyle and Tillihaikie.[1]
Je was admitted to the Bar I2 July 1642, and, in 1646, a Commissioner of Supply for Aberdeenshire, and on the Committee of War for Kincardine. He appears in the Indemnity Act in 1662, and was allowed to purchase his indemnity for acts that might be construed as treason, by the payment of fines, the fine in his case being 2400 pounds.
He died just before 1677 when his son inherits.
He married, in 1649,[2] Christian Fraser, daughter of Thomas Fraser of Strichen. They had a number of children:[3]
