Biography

James Edward Bush was born 20 June 1945 to Farmer Bush and Marie Gibbs in Wilson County, Tennessee. After high school, James Edward joined the United States Army. He was assigned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he became part of the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles). James Edward was killed in action in Vietnam in 1966.

DEDICATION SERVICE - SP4 JAMES EDWARD BUSH - MEMORIAL BRIDGE - OCTOBER 27, 2002 2:00 p.m. James Edward Bush was born June 20, 1945 in Wilson County, TN, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Farmer Bush. He graduated from Lebanon HS in 1964.

He joined the United States Army on June 22, 1964. He completed airborne training at the army parachute center at Fort Benning, GA and was assigned to Fort Campbell, KY. Here he was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (The Screaming Eagles).

In July 1965 the first elements of the division left for Vietnam. SP4 Bush was killed-in-action on a combat mission in the My Tho Tuy Hoa Valley on March 4, 1966, becoming Wilson County's second casualty of the Vietnam War.

His remains were returned to the United States and interred in Wilson County Memorial Gardens on March 13, 1966.

SP4 Bush was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Vietnam Service Medal among other military honors.
