Biography

Elizabeth M. Butts was born in August 1920 in Trenton, New Jersey, daughter of Fredrick and Hilda Butts. She married Robert A. Toft in 1944; they had nine children. Betty passed away August 10, 2010 in Flemington, Hunterdon County, New Jersey and was buried beside Bob at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Trenton.

[The] same week her family held a beautiful celebration of her 90th birthday, Betty passed from this life in Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington NJ on August 13, 2010. Born: in Trenton, NJ, she was a daughter of her late parents, Hilda and Fredrick Butts. Personal: She is predeceased by her loving husband Robert A. Toft. Betty had retired from a dedicated career as an administrative assistant in the N.J Attorney General's office, and moved with Bob to Jupiter, FL in 1983. Betty will be missed by her friends and fellow parishioners of St. Peter Church, Jupiter, FL, where she was active in the Council of Catholic Women, the Rosary Group, served as Eucharistic Minister, and was a daily communicant. Betty graduated from Cathedral High School of Trenton in 1937 and married Bob in 1944. Together they raised and educated nine children. Survivors: James P., DDS, married to Patricia Ujda of Waukesha, WI, Roberta married to John Ujda, MD of La Crosse, WI, Gregory married to Susan Volper of Marlboro, NJ, Sr. Elizabeth Toft, MPF of West Long Branch, NJ, Lawrence married to Debbie Neas of Hatboro, PA, Barbara married to Adrian Nunn, PhD of Lambertville, NJ., Nancy married to Tom McCormack of Lawrenceville, NJ, Mitzi married to Steve Gross of Morrisville, PA, Donna married to Geoffrey Chart of Bangor, PA; twenty-two grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who loved their Mom-Mom. She is also survived by her loving sister-in-law Betty Butts of Hobe Sound, FL. She was predeceased by her brother James of Trenton. Services: A memorial Mass will be offered at St. Peter Church, FL on August 25th at 10 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at The Church of St. Ann Lawrenceville, NJ on August 31st at 10 a.m. and burial at St. Mary's Cemetery following. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Parkside Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 1584 Parkside Ave., Ewing, NJ 08638. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in Betty's name may be made to St. Peter Church, 1701 Indian Creek Parkway, Jupiter, FL, 33458-8204.
