Elizabeth was born on 18 Dec 1852. She was the daughter of William Cadman and Emma Snell. She was baptised [1] on 6 Aug 1854 at St Mary, Ealing.
She was 9 at the time of the 1861 census and living with her family in Charlotte Row, Rotherhithe. She had a brother called William 6 and a sister Sarah Ann 5. Her father was a shipwright.
In 1871[2] she was 19 according to the census and she was living with her parents in Rotherhithe and her siblings: Sarah Ann 15, Mary Ann 15; Ada A 5; and Alfred J a new born. All the children were described as being born in Rotherhithe.
She married[3] Alfred John Wheeler on 12 Oct 1873 at Christ Church, Southgate in Tottenham. Alfred was a barge builder. Their witnesses were William Henry Cadman and Sarah Ann Cadman.
In 1911 [4]Alfred and Elizabeth were living at 46 Gomm Road, Rotherhithe. They recorded that they had been married for 37 years and had seven children who were all still living. Their daughters Grace Adelaide Wheeler 23 and Elsie Maude Wheeler 20 were still living at home, both single and worked as clerks. their son Frederick Stanley Wheeler aged 12 was still at school.
She died aged 82 in 1935. Her death was registered[5] in Bermondsey.
