Obituary: The Ballarat Star (Vic. : 1865 - 1924) Mon 11 Aug 1919 - The death occurred at Beaufort on Saturday morning of Mrs Mary Ann Kay, aged 87 years. The deceased, who was the relict of James Kay, was a very old and respected resident of the district. She was born at Kilmarnock, Scotland, and came to Victoria with her husband 65 years ago. For many years the late Mrs Kay’s husband was a farmer at Trawalla. She had a family of ten, of whom three sons and three daughters survive.[2]
Obituary: The Ballarat Star (Vic. : 1865 - 1924) Thu 14 Aug 1919 - The remains of the late Mrs Mary Ann Kay, of Beaufort, were interred in the local cemetery on Monday afternoon, the funeral being largely attended. The coffin, which was covered with floral tributes, was borne to the grave by Messrs Jas. Kay and H. Kay (sons of deceased), Jas. Kay, jun., and Leslie Kay (grandsons). and the palI-bearers were Messrs Walter Packham (son-in-law), Wm. Packham, William and Angus Kay (grandsons), and L. and H. Smith. The Rev. A. Hamilton Ross, of the Ballarat Presbyterian Church, conducted service at the house and grave. Mr A. H. Sands, undertaker, Beaufort, carried out the mortuary arrangements.[3]
