Biography

James Campbell was born on 15 Dec 1751 in New Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, son of George Campbell (1719 - ~1796) and Margaret (Boyle) Campbell (1723 - ).

His siblings were:

  2. Helen Campbell (1756 - )
  3. John Campbell (1758 - )
  4. William Campbell (1760 - )
  5. Elisabeth Campbell (~1762 - )
  6. Thomas Campbell (1764 - )

James was born at the Garclaugh farm in New Cumnock and was never married. He was a very strong man and often lived with his brothers, and afterwards with his nephew William Campbell at Braehead farm, and when William’s family left Braehead after his death in 1833, James went to Dalgig farm in New Cumnock where he died about 1840.
