Agnes was born in 1867 in Lyttelton.[1] She is the daughter of Thomas Carlile and Sarah Jane Lovett, who married in New Zealand in 1860. [2][3]
Between 1882 and 1890 Agnes bore four children with birth name recorded as Carlile, who grew up with the name Clarkson. The father is presumed to be John Alfred Clarkson (1843-1898); the couple never married. John Clarkson died in 1898.
Agnes passed away 22 May 1932 and is buried at Bromley Cemetery, Christchurch.[5][6]
