Emil Patrik Carlsson was born on November 18, 1870 in Lycke Nedergård in Håby parish in Göteborgs och Bohus län, Sweden. He was the son of Carl August Eliasson and his wife Justina Charlotta Adriansdotter.[1]
The family lived in Lycke Nedergård in Håby parish 1876-1884 and then moved to Kville parish in 1884.[2]
Kathy's notes say she believes he is from Smoland or Boushland area of Sweden. Gets confused because Minnie's 2nd husband Albert Johannesson is from one or the other of these. They had a very Swedish accent ! :)
Emil Patrick Carlson came to America in 1890, he received his US papers in 1896. He worked for the steel mills in Chicago. He was supposed to be saving his money to bring his wife, Christina Axelson Carlson and son George Erick to America. Grandma Christina was a maid in Sweden, she saved and saved until she had enough money to bring she and her son to the states. When she arrived, family rumor has it, she found Emil at a polka dance with all the pretty girls and she dragged him home by the ear and had 5 more children. LOL They live at 9238 S. Euclid Ave. on the South side of Chicago. Their phone # was South Chicago 8-6211. He worked for Wisconsin Steel Mills and later for the city parks in Chicago. Oakwood Cemetery, Chicago, ILL.
