Biography
In 1841 he was listed in the census as being born in 1821. He was living with John Carman, a green grocer and brother Charles in the home of 95 year old Ann Carman at Morden Street, Greenwich, Kent.[1] It is unclear the relationships between these people, Ann seem to old to be his mother, the older John to young to be his father.

John was a shoemaker in 1851 he lived at 2 Commercial Place, Lewisham road, Greenwich, Kent with his widowed mother and brother Charles in the same house but living separately, they are both greengrocers. John is listed as being born in 1622 in Maidstone, Kent.[2]

Research Notes
There is a marriage of a male Carman to a female Wakefield in August 1835 in Chatham, Kent with no other details, this is probably not John but is left for research purposes.[3]
There is a death recorded for a John Carman about May 1861 but not enough details to confirm this is the correct person, there are no further census entries for him.[4]
