Biography

William Carrigan born at Rothestown House, Muckalee (Ballyfoyle), Co. Kilkenny, probably in August 1860, the youngest of thirteen children [11 were boys] of James Carrigan, a substantial farmer, and his wife Johana Brenan. ^[1][2]

he was ordained (February 1884)

author "History and Antiquities of the Diocese of Ossory" recorded in one of the notebooks the dates of birth and death of his parents, James Carrigan and Johanna Brenan,^[3]

William Carrigan 40 yrs Clergyman (C.C.) resided in 1901 in house 1 in Patrick Street (Durrow, Queen's Co.). ^[4]

William Carrigan 50 yrs Parish Priest resided in 1911 in house 1 in Castle Street (Durrow, Queen's Co.). ^[5]
