Biography

Annie was born in 1858, the daughter of William James and Mary Elizabeth (Buckhalter) Carter, in Stewart County, Georgia, where she was raised.

On January 30, 1884, Annie married Lewis C. "L.C." Williford, the son of George Washington and Susanne (Bullard) Williford, in Stewart County. They settled in Stewart County and had the following children:

William Thomas Williford (1886–1943)

Susie Mae (Williford) Alston (1887–1966)

Josie Belle (Williford) (1889–1945)

Rassie (Williford) Dismuke (1893–1944)

Louise (Williford) Pekor (1897–1966)

L.C. worked at various jobs over the years to support his family. He worked as a bookkeeper and by 1920 he was the manager of of coal distribution business.

Annie passed away in 1926 at 67 years old, while L.C. lived on until 1928, passing at 73 years old. Their bodies are buried together in the Harmony Cemetery in Richland, Stewart County, Georgia.
