Biography

Elizabeth was born in North Adelaide, South Australia during 1920. She is the daughter of Howard Oliver Carter and Marjorie Ryall Moore. She passed away in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory during 2019.

Elizabeth was born in North Adelaide, South Australia on 16 October 1920 to Howard Oliver Carter and Marjorie Ryall Moore.^[1] The following birth notice was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Journal, on 23 October 1920:^[2]

CARTER.—On the 16th October, at Konetta Nursing Home, North Adelaide, to the wife of Howard Carter, of Kadina—a daughter.

Elizabeth served in the Australian Army during the Second World War. She enlisted in Wayville, South Australia on 18 June 1943 and was discharged on 29 May 1945 with rank of Lieutenant in the AWAS GEN REINFTS. ^[3][4]

Elizabeth married Charles Archibald Price in Hackney, South Australia on 27 January 1945. The following "Approaching Marriages" notice was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Advertiser, on 23 January 1945:^[5]

The marriage of Lt. Elizabeth Carter, AWAS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Carter. Medindie, with Lt. Charles Archibald Price, eldest son of Dr. and Mrs. A. Grenfell Price, North Adelaide, will be quietly celebrated by the Rev. W. H. Irwin at 3 p.m. on Saturday at St. Peter's College Chapel.

Elizabeth died in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory on 22 March 2019 at the age of 98 years.^[6]

Elizabeth was buried at the Gungahlin Cemetery in Mitchell, Australian Capital Territory on 1 April 2019.^[7]
