Biography
John Caryll, eldest son of John Caryll, 2nd (Jacobite) Lord Caryll of Durford, married in 1712 Lady Mary Mackenzie, daughter of Kenneth Mackenzie, 4th Earl and 1st Jacobite Marquess of Seaforth, by his wife Lady Frances Herbert, daughter of William Herbert, 1st Duke of Powis. The Duke of Powis was Chamberlain to James II, in exile at St. Germain-en-Laye, near Paris. Col. James Porter, son of Endymion Porter by his wife Olivia Boteler, was Vice Chamberlain.
