Biography

Josiah Case Sr. was born in Connecticut.

Josiah, the son of Fithian Case and Amaryllis Humphrey was born on 12 February 1790 at Canton, Connecticut.

Josiah is believed to have married Agnes Case, the daughter of Levi and Polly (Humphrey) Case on 9 January 1815 at Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut. They had five children:

  1. Mary Amarilla Case (b. 1820),
  2. Sarah Jane Case (b. 1823),
  3. Amoret Agnes Case (b. 1825),
  4. Harriet Jones Case (b. 1827; d. 1896),
  5. Josiah William Case Jr. (b. 1830, New York).

Josiah William Case Sr. died in 1830 at New York. His wife, Agnes Case, is listed in the probate record and appeared before the probate court on 31 August 1830 as Josiah died intestate.[1]

Dr. Josiah William Case died on 26 June 1830 in his 40th year at Colesville, Broome, New York. He is buried in the New Ohio Cemetery at Belden, Broome, New York.[2]

Agnes (Case) Case is listed in the 1850 and 1860 census records with her son, Josiah Case at Hartland, Hartford, Connecticut.[3][4]There is no further mention of the other children.
