Biography

Andrea was born around 1789 ^[1] in Santa Cristina, in Palermo Province, Sicily. He was the son of Giuseppe Catania, a surveyor, and Cristina Pediscalzo or something like that ^[2]. He moved to Santa Margherita di Belice some time prior to 1823. His first wife was Audenzia Catalanotto or Catalano ^[3] and they had several children. Andrea was widowed and in 1823 married another Audenzia, Audenzia Randazzo ^[4]. He was still living as of 23 October 1842 ^[5].

Andrea was a manufacturer of baskets ^[6]. His 1823 marriage record just indicates a profession of 'countryside', of uncertain meaning.
