Biebrich is a borough of Wiesbaden situated on the Rhine’s right bank, first documented in 874 as villa biburc and later developing around the Baroque Biebrich Palace, built from 1700–1744 for the Dukes of Nassau. In the 19th century, it emerged as a key industrial hub—hosting cement, chemical, and sparkling wine (Sekt) factories—and became a prominent Rhine port in 1831.
