The church occupied the site on Renshaw Street from 1815 (when it was built by Sir John Gladstone for £10,000) until 1892 when it was purchased by the Cheshire Lines Railway Company and demolished. A new St Andrew's church was built in it's stead on Aigburth Road (junction of Normanton Road) and was opened in 1893
