- Windsor Township is one of the twenty-seven townships of Ashtabula County, Ohio, United States.
In 1798, Simeon Griswold and William Eldridge bought the land of Windsor Township from the Connecticut Land Company. Then, it had already been settled by a couple hardy frontiersmen whose names are forgotten by time. The first known settlers are George Phelps and Solomon Griswold. The third family to settle was that of Charles Jewell who came from Virginia. In 1804, Jonathan Higley arrived followed by the family of Joseph Alderman. In 1805, S.D. Sackett bought 160 acres, Oliver Loomis arrived from Windsor, Connecticut, and Elijah Hill brought his family into the area. Next came Michael Tomlinson, Hezekiah Skinner, John Gladden, Caleb Holcomb, Benjamin Cook, and Ebenezer Lampson. In 1813, the largest influx of settlers arrived from Tolland, Connecticut bringing the John Norris, Cornelius Norris, Elijah and Gaal Grover, Samuel and Erastus Rawdon, Stephen and West Winslow, Jonathan Clapp, Daniel Morgan, Moses Barnard, Gideon Morgan and Francis Barnard.
