Biography

Thomas was baptised on 2 March 1800 at St Peter, Leeds, Yorkshire: Thomas son of Thomas Catherall, Marsh Lane, born 24 Oct.^[1]

He married Mary Akroyd on 12 September 1819 at Halifax, Yorkshire: Thomas Catherall of Ovenden, potter, and Mary Akroyd of Northowram, widow. Both marked, witnesses were William Rushworth and Thomas Beaver.^[2]

Mary died about 1828 and Thomas remarried on 13 February 1830 to Sarah Sutcliffe at Halifax: Thomas Cathrall of Ovenden, potter, widower, and Sarah Sutcliffe of Ovenden, spinster. Both marked, witnesses were William Rushworth and Thomas Beaver.^[3]

In 1841 he was living at Soil Hill Pottery, Ovenden, with Sarah and his children from his first marriage. His father Thomas was living nearby, also at the pottery.^[4]

Thomas died in 1882 aged 82.^[5]
