Robert was born on 16 May 1877 and baptised on 7 December 1877 in Manchester, St Mary, St Denys and St George.^[1]

In the 1891 census Robert (age 15) was the son of Frederick Cawley in Manchester, Crumpsall, Lancashire, England.^[4]

In the 1911 census Robert (age 33), Manager Of Bleach Works, was the single son of Frederick Cawley in Brooklands Prestwich, Prestwich, Lancashire, England.^[5]

Robert's marriage to Vivienne Lee was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1912 in the Salford district.^[6]

In the 1939 register Lord (age 62), Peer of the Realm, was the married head of household in Berrington Hall Eye, Leominster and Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.^[7]
